February 16-March 3 - During our "Earth's System" unit, we learned how water is continuously recycled; that fresh water is stored beneath Earth’s surface as groundwater; how the forces of weather and the shape of the land determine where precipitation falls; and that fresh water is a limited resource we must conserve.
For our final project, each group built a "Water Cycle Model" to see how much water is collected as it goes through the stages of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. We poured 100ml of water into a bowl full of dirt, secured it tightly in plastic wrap, and left our models out in the sun.
After 2 weeks, Group 6: Melinda, Janessa, Natalie, and Alasia won the challenge with 17ml of water reclaimed. Congratulations!
