PAPER AIRPLANES
November 10 & 17, 2021 - Our class continues to experiment with the 4 aerodynamic forces of Thrust, Drag, Lift, and Gravity that need to be balanced for a plane to fly efficiently. Each group built two planes to compete. One is for distance, the other is flight time. After 2 STEM periods and 48 rounds of launches, measurements, and modifications, Group 2 (Jonathan, Raul, Aristan, Clarke) won the distance contest with the all-time distance record of 75 feet!!! Group 5 (Cassandra, Gianna, Jaylene, Natalie) won the flight time challenge with the time of 2.88 seconds.
With the experience and knowledge gathered, we will be building balsa wood gliders next!!!
